:) Hello everyone!

Yes it has been a long time since I have last posted and it's like opening fan mail! I've had readers wondering if palminspired is no longer being updated, as well as comments like where are you lady palm hope you are fine! Well thankyou very much for your kind emails! And yes palminspired is still online, and will always be! The reason post's have not been uploaded for the past 2 weeks is simply because of work commitments. Not only that I have been contemplating on transporting the site into a subdomain.

While I'm at this post I would like to thank those developers who have emailed me as well! And the question? Have I used my Palm in these dormant weeks? Yes I have! Infact I have also purchased an IPOD NANO! Simply because playing music on my palm is fun however it did consume most of its battery life. And considering I carry enough with me as it is, I decided to purchase the nano with 14 hours of battery life I dont need to get worried that my palm will die on me when I want to use the web.

Throughout this week, I have been using Teal DOC a terrific application that is very much customisable the best thing I liked about this application was the ability to control the auto scroll speed at your own reading pace! You can also use fontbucket to change the fonts, I have had the privacy to make my documents PRIVATE and the ability to encrypt them also.

I do recommend it to anyone!

Looking at a few post's back I had mentioned a service for palm handhelds a service that is known as "Lost and Found" which equals Bak2u! This service that I have also registered for enables users to have that second alarm you could say.. by having a second source which is trackable when your pda is lost with vital information. To register for trackable settings is free to anyone, the best thing about being a paid member is peace of mind and the tip to the police! currently available in singapore only. The singaporian police have access to Bak2u's database! Travelling to singapore and misplacing a palm could end up in safe hands.

Alas Palminspired has been a feature on Bak2u suprisingly and has been quoted to visit in their current newsletter!

Picture Perfect!

Most people are overwhelmed by the information overflow with regards to pda's, laptop's, and mobiles. Every year there are many releases of such items many of them with added features, integration and the recent news soon to be delivered new operating systems! It is expected technology changes very quickly. Which is great! however the itsy bitsy downside is you can never end up purchasing the PURRFECT PDA! :) There is no SUCH THING! you make your own perfect pda! you either look for flaw's in your current one or be happy with the fact that it satisfies your needs enough!

I spotted a Lifedriver user for the first time on my recent travels, and actually it looked smaller then what I had imagined. The user was indeed very satisfied at the time they mentioned they had been reading the news. And they use it also to watch movies :) whilst travelling to and from work, I like that idea I also admire the fact that our PDA's have expandable capabilities where we can share our family photo's, pet photo's, holiday photo's or that short video you recorded with your camera!

I recently had the fun pleasure of playing a game via bluetooth! now that was fun whilst sitting in the kitchen with co-workers at work!

Basically the moral of this: Is that do explore the many benefits that is awaiting you! amusing as it may be, I infact had no idea of such a benefit until I decided to join in with the bandwagon. Although it is true some users have not utilised the full potential with their pda's, many users infact upgrade to another device maybe because they like carrying $500-1000 Task Lists :D. I'm pretty sure that once you can picture your pda perfect for your needs you wont be upgrading so soon and you may think about money before you spend!

The next couple of post's are usefull applications which help me through out my day and that is making my device more functional for me. Maybe if your one of those people that have not fully utilised your precious pda, you can probably get a few idea's to help you navigate.

Dont take your Palm For granted!

Little things always make me think just that!, if you notice my previous post regarding calculators. You will see I was after tax based calculators. However normally at work most accountants have a special machine called an adding machine! yes that lovely machine that prints out your calculations :D. However where I work now, such machines are not available and the trickery involved in finding a decent calculator is more complicated the Hudini's magic ! So today I used the ram (in-built) calculator and although we may know this. But we are able to see exactly the key's/functions we have punched in and offcourse the answer! this in turn is like the adding machine only difference is, is that it's a digital reciept :D on the palm. So easier then excel obviously for small calculations more quicker and convenient!

So that in fact makes me happy! because I can see what i'am punching in instead of having to do the whole calculation over again :D

A nice and easy way to share files

This is a convenient way to share files, you have up to 30MB worth of storage and you can store anything! it is so easy to share files with people simply by selecting which files you would like to share and then send it to mobile or send to email.

I access this on my T5 and at times upload files onto My Yahoo Briefcase instead of storing it onto my SD card or internal memory. To easy maybe some of you would find this just as good.

The Smartphone

I have been contemplating well pretty much stuck on whether or not a smartphone should be purchased over a pda?

Having never used a smarphone I would not know much of it's benefits however without using them as a potential consumer I'm distracted towards purchasing one. Simply because many smartphones on the market both Palm & Pocket PC have an essential component lagging in their designs, you can see with palm the bulkiness is present, and with pocket pc the same goes with that however they did minimise such bulkiness with the introduction of the o2 xda mini and now expecting atom.

However for the above listed devices there is no keyboard present, or more like any numeric keypad (O2) for making calls you have to use your stylus. One more thing is, is that the screen is relatively small to get any decent work done on most smartphone's.

However If you can compromise between size then nobody would be in an awkward situation. There is the issue of not carrying two devices why should I when I can purchase a smartphone? One thing I'am wondering is you could be in the middle of reading an ebook and then the phone rings? what happens with that.

So far I'am very satisfied with my T5 and although I wouldnt mind owning a smartphone I personally dont think it would be any better then a seperate pda or seperate mobile phone. I cant imagine reading documents, editing documents, using blazer web browser at an eye comforting level on a smartphone. That is small enough to not be a bulky intrusion.

The Imate Jasjar! supports 3g which is useful enough for me however it is to big to serve as my mobile phone. Honestly speaking I wouldn't mind trying the atom o2xda but then again what's the point when the screen size is to small.

It all comes down to your own user needs. Some people wouldnt mind carrying bigger devices for them connectivity is more important and they get this through an all for one device basically.

I'am however pretty much connected through my versatile 3 mobile phone, which also has a 1.3 megapixel camera, quickshare, FM radio and bluetooth for pairing it with my T5, the phone remains in my handbag and I'm away surfing the net, and checking email's with my hotchocolate right next to me.

I cant imagine taking out a bulky device and using it as a phone :D just wont go with the flow.

Skype free internet telephoney! that just works? It works excellento on mac and pc, however I'm well aware that many of our palm user's out there all across the world aie, Hong Kong, USA, UK, Australia, China, Mauritius, France, Mexico, India just to name a few are hoping that skype will sooner then later be available on the palm OS platform!

Well just to keep everyone entertained in the mean time, for those of you Treo owners, Tungsten T owners, and Tungsten T3, Lifedrive owners, you may wish to download a trialcopy of IPHONE. This enables internet telephoney onthe palm handheld. Tested on the T|T and T|T3 it works fine.

This is so ironic! another user spotted with a palm today in the train! sitting right next to me, middle aged lady with her zire 72 I think it was. She had it in her black case, looks like she was tapping into some appointments or something or other.

Ok idea's! I'm in the look out for a tax based calculator for my palm, you may see this in your office the tax casio calculator. However my one gets pinched half the time or lost, and well might as well use my palm!

* GST Calculator : Calculates the GST and the GST exclusive amount, all you need to do is put in the %
VAT Calct

* Snap Calculator : This is great when your in the middle of an application and would like to add up some sums, the application allows you to calculate the sums and then apply it onto the document, memo etc your look at.

So far these are the two which fit my needs, however I would like to see a proper calculator with the GST calculation integrated

Its that time of the month known as "Month End" therefore delay in posts. But mind you this site is updated more then once a week. And is updated vigouresly on the weekend.

I do have some very interesting goss available on what I have been upto with my T5. And so far the Da Vinci Code is becomming a very interesting read indeed.

P.S did notice a handheld user today! on the way home in the bus an asian lady with glasses on I thought she had a T5 but as I got up to get off, she had a what looked more like a HP pocket pc, and she was puzzling her way through soduku!

As for me I would rather give my brain a bit of a rest after looking at numbers all day :D then spending my free time playing soduku.

Just before I go into what applications are currently on my palm, I would like to give an insight into what I do for a living basically people in my profession are known as bean counters :) yaie! I'am an Accountant CPA qualified soon to be.

They say a ladies bag is dangerous to look into well so is her handheld organiser :) this is where I keep my handy information.

Throughout the net there are fantastic recipes I have a collection of these filed under country, in my memo-pad/
I also have the largest html collection of text messages in common categories such as love,friendship and funny stored in isilo. I now have a luxurious collection of ebooks which I read on my way back to work. I have a finance dictionary using a freeware which most novice users know of called Bdicty. I keep details of key contacts for both work and personal on my T5. I contact friends and family and catchup on work email through snapper mail. When I get extremely bored (which hardly happens I tap into Bejewelled and Billiards.) I also as you would know of have palmary clock to wake up to, accompanied by a Dreams dictionary using Bdicty for those wierd dreams. I use WomensDay! recommended to all the ladies out there to keep track of my mood, and without Agendus I would be unaware of meetings and birthday's.

Being an Accountant you might expect for me to have some sophisticated form of money related application :D well I do. But it's nothing of the sort you run a business with. It's a simple yet smart application usefull for managing your personal Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet. Might I recommend while I'm at it is to prepare one of these every year to see how your own assets are going. They are treated as a fair snapshot of your financial situation at a particular point of time. Why not do one at June 30th every year.

A tip! you should treat your finances like as if you would if it where your business! this is what sets you apart and focused in keeping with Budgets.

The programs I use most commonly to measure my spending is an application called Splash Moneywhich can be downloaded Here
I also use splash money to keep track of basically everything all accounts, and budgets/expenses/income.

With so many Account management programs available on the market from freeware to shareware I have stuck with the two as they meet my needs very well! Do check it out and read the manual for both these items for more information.

Special thank's to everyone who has participated in the user profiles! we have users from all over the world, and yes there is still plenty to post up. However I would like to share a quick informative session! since I'am a recent palm user I have been able to grasp alot of new knowledge, I also have a website now :D finally and best of all I have been recieving alot of interesting requests lately in my email! from the lady palm users.

So this is for us gurls out there! As we all know without being biased women are catching up with the tech savy trend! and why shouldn't we? most of the email's I have caught up on where in regard to mother's and pda's, stay at home mother's, business ladies, sales ladies, teachers and college students. I'm excited that I have had the pleasure of reading some of these great comments.

And everyone loves there sophisticated organisers! because it enables the mothers to never miss their childrens plays, their family agenda's most people proclaimed that they never relied on planners before, and that everything was stored in their heads! however a new member to the family changed everything and so more to keep track of:- that is what motivated few of the stay at home mothers to get acquainted with the idea of the PDA.

Students and the like as well as professionals seem to have been influenced by peers, plus the hectic load of assignments and schedules, meetings, and most just needed something useful enough to serve as an all in one compact device. And they too love it!

As for me you all who have followed this site from day one would have known by now that I was one who needed to get with the times! and forget about carrying my dairy, influenced by peers I acquired a T5 and am very glad!

So thanks to you all for your insights via email also!

Convert DOC files to PDB

An excellent freeware java application that can be used both on MAC and PC is available for download! to convert Document (.doc) files to .pdb files once exported to be viewed with any ereader software I use ereader myself the freeware ebook reader for palm. That can be downloaded at www.ereader.com.

So why the need to convert DOC files to PDB? Well there will be a time when you may have recieved an award winning novel or any other interesting read in doc format! so you may need to convert it to make reading easier on the eyes.

I recently have had the pleasure of recieving Da Vinci Code book Author Dan Brown (in doc format) sent to me as a free gift. I have converted it to PDB successfully and will soon be able to read it using my ereader! I tried other ereader softwares some of which claim to recognise doc files however it failed in doing so for example Yadr on the T5 did not recognise any doc files as well as Cspotrun.

Do download this freeware application to easily convert any doc files! Makedoc

Hi everyone,

Site has not been up to date lately as frequently as normal because of a flu, but I'm alright now :).

Well alot seems to have happened since I have been bed ridden, the release of new devices in October very interesting indeed.

TX and Z22 in general they seem to be great devices, the Z22 seems to look like an ipod with its plain white design (it would be nice to see this device in silver-the same material/same silver shiney as it can be that you see in the back of an ipod) now that would be classy yet the price would be higher too. However the Z22 seems to be a great gift idea! TX on the other hand pretty much is like a T5 with wi-fi an allround slim and compact unit, I wouldn't neglect this one.

However as for me I would not be investing into any new devices since I have recently purchased a T5, I have also read that the signal in an external wi-fi card is stronger then an internal. So it's not like I'am missing anything I guess since I have plenty of board memory with my T5.

Basically I have been quiet busy lately and have also had the pleasure to read some great ebooks. I do recommend downloading the Phantom of the Opera at Phantom Of the Opera

I have come down with a severe flu infection and sore throat which has delayed posting up alot of content. Thankyou very much to all those people who have submitted their user profiles ! There is roughly 50 or so.. so if I do my best I should have them uploaded as soon as I completly recover.

Anyway have I got some news for you! my lovely palm had crashed on me, luckily I had hotsynced but the reason for its sudden death was because I had hotsynced it from a collegues T3 they unfortunatley had the same gimicky username as me, and when I had hotsynced my device on the same computer well you could say T3 updates and all that jazz was installed onto my T5 which caused it to not respond, and displaying a white patch instead of the graffiti area. Very annoying ! mind you even though I had not lost vital information, I did loose my settings for a third party application which I was actually testing to see if this thing works!

Looking at the topic prior to this, I was talking about Getting organised. No body can do this alone the only way you can get organised if you know your routine very well at work for example or at home, that way you can see where you may have free time floating around to schedule in something else. So any newbies in the work force with a palm dont strain yourself because you yet have to know what your tasks and duties are before you can develope your own plan.

I looked at Datebk5.4 and Agendus V.9 to see if I can replace my inbuilt calendar with something more sophisticated, this is and was a hard decision because both the above applications are excellent, however I have opted for Agendus v.9 after using Datebk5.4 for a while, I found that the features in agendus have a high learning curve (which requires time to actually sit there and test it out for your own needs) however I particularly liked the find features especially the feature which enables you to find free time in your week or day. That is very handy!

With Agendus you can customise your day view and list views , so you can have your wallpaper background changed, and font size. However one thing which annoyed me a tad bit, was when entering in an appointment you can make the selection to allocate attendees, notes, and photo's. I thought the photo idea was good, inorder for me to attach a map of a location maybe. However when attaching the map and selecting on the thumbnail, the larger image of the map comes out ridiculously blurred, it is no way as clear as shown in the media application.

Another aspect which I liked in agendus that goes well with the way I organise myself is the matrix, which is an option to choose whether a task is urgent, or important, or both. And surprise surprise v.10 is out now!

Getting Organised

This is the sole purpose which had intrigued me to buy my handheld as you would have read by now. But ladies and gentlemen there have been so many submissions for user profiles, that designing each submission has been taking a bit of time. So during the comming week's I will be submitting one each day.

If you notice the sub-heading it's about getting organised. Definitely that is a task that requires alot of discipline but there has to be an easier way to stay focused and well thinking that.. if I do this it wil be better for me in the end.. That is called motivation I wont go into the theories of motivation :D but its quiet simple you do whats urgent and what is important and you have more time for fun later on and when it comes to tasks which a work related and are urgent and important their is a financial benefit overall but also a sense of accomplishment.

What is the point of owning a handheld device when all you ever use it for is play games, download music, and watch movies sure we all do that but it's important to not forget about the palm pim applications, everyone uses them but do we follow what we have put in there or do we even bother entering the data in there in the first place?

In the next couple of days I will be addressing some of the method's I have found that help me with proper way's of getting things done. Which can help you think about things more clearly and maybe get things into perspective most of my daily routines require me to do just that!, but the trick is how can you use your handheld to help you?

Wireless Play

Ok! I have a Tungsten T5 and finally I had decided to take out the time to figure out how I can get my T5 online! This was actually very exciting for me just thinking about how I can send and recieve emails while away from the office using my Tungsten T5 is very classy.

What did I do, well my setup was relatively simple I have a SE Bluetooth phone and I have signed up for a broadband account to add onto my mobile plan. The connection settings where configured in the preferences menu. First I paired up my Tungsten T5 and Bluetooth phone and it worked very nicely (plug and play) I then established a Network with the configurations given to me by my mobile network provider.

I tapped on connect and I could see some activity going on my phone and the Tungsten T5 after signing on, connection was successfull :D.

I tried Mundu Instant Messenger Version 3 this was a very bright, lively and colourfull messenger which I really could say was outdone by.

The messenger was fine in terms of logging into msn, texts can be changed into different colours and there are hi-res graphics available to send as emotions, chat in the background, warning sounds where heard when I someone had messaged me. The one thing which I could not work out with Mundu IM is it's function of sending applications and images, simple tapping on the option did not bring up a further menu to choose a file or image to send to the person your chatting with (email address has been blurred for privacy reasons.)

As well as trying Mundu Instant Messenger I gave verichat a shot, and this worked a treat I was able to send emotions, chat in the background mode, I was able to send pictures and files with no problem at all. I found verichat as the IM that I find more simple to use and functional.

However Mundu IM has a great design and great features, because it did not work for me with the sending of files and veri-chat has I opt for verichat as my main IM.

So looking at these pictures taken directly from my T5 you can see what I mean!

Now how can I not surf the web while I have my connection still running being so overwhelmed by all this in the palm of my hands, I used blazer the inbuilt palm browser very speedy delivery and wide orientation viewing. Pages loaded nicely and I was able to read some posts clearly and comfortably now this is something that I can see myself doing at cafe's with my favourite Hotchocolate with Marshmallows :D

Making my T5 Look and Feel Pretty: Final Part II

One of the best things I like about my palm handheld so far is also the fact that I can use it as my morning wake up call. This jazzes up my handheld more and makes it very attractive to look at. I consider this to be a top palm application. Making My T5 Look and Feel Pretty: Part I

:) Yes to make it look pretty I have been using background wallpapers of bright pink tulips :D my favourite flowers and I also have family & pet photo's underneath the media section to show people. I have personalised it to my tasting an excellent program which has helped me do just that is zlauncher! It enables you to select icons for each category my main category has a heart icon, and the communications category has a star.

These are simple ways I make my handheld look pretty mind you it looks pretty anyway with its black clip on protector.
Zlauncher allows me to change colours of the text, and manage my files, and you can have themes for example like you have on a computer i.e windows xp theme. So this is how my handheld remains pretty, at the moment I have a really PINK splashed with white background on my handheld :D You can download a trail version of zlauncher at zlauncher
The application is priced at a very decent rate for all the hard work that has gone into it.

I also add photo's to my contacts and these are not necessarily the person itself, they are funny avatars that I have downloaded online for example at Avatars

Tungsten T5 and it's versatile Cradle!

The T5 cradle is very versatile!, just like an ipod you can listen to your music through your main stereo system. And I only discovered this today!! what am I doing girl! well infact there is a tiny stereo jack to insert a cable which connects into your cradle to your stereo system. I tried it out and it works superb now this is something to wow about!

This infact gives me the option to listen to my music without burning them onto CDs or wihout having to turn my laptop on and plugging in the USB cable since I only have 2 usb ports on my mac. Very nice indeed!

Street Maps A Non- GPS alternative ...

Every household owns a street directory, but I find it quiet embarrassing if I had to carry one around to look up directions while walking in the main CBD what I used to do is have a small note pad or a crunched up piece of paper or if worse comes to worse I would ask someone. Now that I have my own Palm handheld device, I thought wonder if I could download street directions onto my pda? Ta da! first web site I went to was Where Is
I searched a specific location and there I was directed a street map that can be saved as an image!
I then decided I could transfer this to my T5 using Hotsync or the USB drive I opted for the USB.

Check out yahoo! and run a search for a street map for your location!
No more papers and no more worries.

Some Comments about T5 & Life Drive

Palm has released some excellent handheld devices, as a newbie I have been introduced and have read about a lot after my purchase, the life drive is an EXCELLENT pda definitely one of the best! With its 4gig of memory it definitely has a lot going its way. The T5 on the other hand is also another Excellent device from palm, because of its form factor now the differences are a few but huge! The life drive has Wi Fi and way more memory then any Palm Pda on the market the T5 does not have wi-fi.

When choosing a handheld which ever one you purchase it will definitely be an asset, because you are able to expand your storage space by purchasing SD cards so you really cant go wrong in your choice, if you would like wi-fi but don't have it as a standard feature on your handheld you can also purchase a wi-fi sd card. But not everyone needs such connectivity and most people are happy with what they have. But it doesn't hurt to have more :)

Now with the T5 and the life drive you can run the same applications and listen to your pod casts, mp3, watch videos, send and receive email so they both offer great entertainment for on the road and both have the new smart file management which is using your handheld device as a USB drive this is very ideal! now you don't have to worry if you have forgotten that disk or CD to burn your files simply transfer it into your pda.

In the end the Life-Drive I would have to say is a chunky, solid, versatile, diverse! and definitely a 5 star handheld.

The Tungsten T5 on the other hand is a slim, professional, functional and is definitely a genuine top knotch handheld!

Comparing the two they are both tremendously tech savy devices and are usuable in all aspects from podcasts to video's , emails to internet surfing, live wi-fi radio music - your family album, games to office, and finally the main reason handhelds have evolved from calender, notes, and contacts to advanced Personal Information Managers!

If you follow this site daily, then you may have noticed the new layout very funky! It is so wonderful what resources you can find online, and well the people are just so contributing! Someone else has designed this layout and don't they have marvellous talent!

Also a bit of news just to inform you that this site is updated daily, and you may at times see more then one post.

To continue with my Palm adventures the most recent thing I have tried with this great handheld is to watch movies on them! Yes with the help of excellent forum members at my local PUG (AUSPUG) I have found some great applications to do just the trick. So for Mac users out there you will be interested in knowing that there is a free program available to rip Dvds to convert them into mpeg4, avi and other formats. To find out more about this great program I would recommend reading the posts on auspug.

So how did it work for me? Simple great! I downloaded a palm media player known as Core media Player TCPMP as well as an ACC sound plug in. I converted a DVD title and using drive mode on my Tungsten T5 I transferred it successfully onto my handheld and there for the first time I was stunned! Simply stunned amazed and very excited! The palm handheld devices are just too good! You should really try this out if you own a Palm handheld that's got enough memory (or if you have an external SD card) and one that has colour display i.e. Tungsten T5, Tungsten T3, Life Drive, and well check out the palm website for more handheld's.

The search for a better SMS application!

Well my search has begun the search for sms storage...

The great thing and well a simple but small thing is that I discovered something very handy on my trial and error journey, and that is the palm home icon, while I was using one application I kept on going into another to copy and paste text, however I did it the long way which was to go back to the palm OS launcher and select the application : ) newbie what can I say, any way I found out that whilst tapping on the Palm home icon (to return me to the palm OS launcher,) approximatley for around 3 seconds or less an option came up from the palm home icon which showed my most recent applications! This made it easier to switch back and forth to and from apps when copying text!

So that's one good thing, another good thing is that I have been experimenting on some sms applications, yes I'm trying to do everything with my handheld even store my text messages, now beware! Because the palm handheld does not have drivers for certain phones not all phones can use this function it had definitely failed with my Lg Irda phone, however there is no trouble with bluetooth phones such as the Sony Ericsson.

So I have transferred my text messages from my SE phone to my pda, now I want something more! I want to be able to have a database of funny, friendship, love, pranks and annoying text messages on my pda that can easily be sent to any phone using a bluetooth connection from my T5 to my SE.

With this in mind I tried FunSMS v.5 it was definitely fun to begin with but when it came down to sending messages using the blue tooth connection from my Sony ericsson it was definitely not fun, I like the application for its storage capabilities meaning there are several folders such as inbox, outbox, trash, templates. I like the templates folder because that's the best place to store the above mentioned text messages. However if the application does not send messages it fails in its purpose. The bells and whistles of funsms such as exporting text messages to memo-pad are nice but then again it doesn’t serve its intended purpose very well. So I give this application the following rating

Functionality: *
Usability: 0

Functionality: 1 stars for being able to recieve text messages from my SE phone
Features: 2 stars for being able to export text messages to memo-pad and the ability to creat template text messages.
there are others but they defy its purpose.
Usability 0 : The application is designed very well, and though it may work for some It did not serve its underlying purpose as easily as the Palm SMS application.

Now the palm inbuilt application has worked out to be great, in fact when I tried sending an sms from the blue tooth connection again using my SE it gave me a freight as I heard my sms tone on my spare phone, and then I was like WOW it actually works! Now this is great.
However the limitations on the inbuilt application is that there is no menu to create your own folders if this where the case, my cute collection idea would have been saved!

So the search continues..

Yes you have read the heading "Excellent Application" and mind you this is indeed a great idea! a great idea that is free :)
Developer name Gavin Maxwell also known as Pocket Science he is also the site administrator for the australian palm users group. ( I did my research :) ) so thanks to him for this great palm software!

Now to talk about this great application which is free! did I say free :D this is seriously the best idea! ok let me explain the marvel behind this application. For example say if you are not using your palm handheld's main core applications instead your using a more advanced substitute, but because you can not delete the main core palm applications that always appear in the main window of your Palm OS launcher, obfuscate saves you here it is the application you need to download now! you simply select the application you would like to hide and presto! they no longer appear on your palm os launcher, until you decide to go back into Obfuscate to show them. If your wondering what this funny name means it simple means to hide something to make it unclear. So thats what Obfuscate is all about!

Pocket Science

My First Impressions

While I was sitting in the train ready to go home I was so tempted to open up my new great PDA and see what all the fascination is going to be about. Finally in about 1 hours time I reached my destination and in another 25 minutes I reached home.

So it took its time : ) I opened the box it was so neat and compact, It's amazing how they can fit so much things in a tiny box. With it I saw instruction manuals, a black front protector that is attachable to the device and the PDA itself. It was hard at first to figure out how to attach the black protector but it looked amazing! Looked so professional and sleek, which is just the look I was after.

Finally after staring at it for quiet some time I decided to do my first synchronization. So within one week and 3 days I used the palm applications main applications and I definitely benefited from not carrying my old planner around, it was so simple to reschedule appointments and not flip for something that I had put in 3 days back, it was a simple click on the weekly icon and there I straight away found what I was looking for.

I have been using the task lists which is better then my old planner as well, simply because the task management philosophy I followed can be so easily manipulated on my palm handheld because there are already priority benchmarks. This is just a very neat idea, and with the added note attachments it makes my whole task look so neat and tidy, no more cramped up little paragraphs, I just add a note for that extra information.

I have also been regularly been using the memo pad, and I have found some great idea's for it, I frequently try to be really creative with my meals so now when I need to find a great recipe online I just store them under a category called recipes in my handheld, and an IOU category. I guess the idea's are endless but I would like to know more, maybe someone out there uses their memo-pad for something else, if you do make a comment.

Anyway so after couple of days getting acquainted I found an Australian web forum devoted to Palm handheld's called AUSPUG and there I received some great advice I recommend anyone to join auspug. I asked one simple question and I received more then what I asked for.

To my surprise I learnt that you can do more then the basics on your palm handheld! It was definitely something that the normal user would think oh wow.. Can you believe you can download thousands of applications, for basically anything from home-management, life management, business management, and basically well the possibilities seem to be endless.

The kind forum members also told me that you could surf the internet on your handheld now this is very handy! Basically I learnt a lot of new things from the basic core applications that I used to something that I didn't really know about.

Why Did I Purchase a Palm Pda?

This is my story :)

I was encouraged by many of my work colleagues after hearing a lot of their opinions I decided why not, maybe it will do me sum good I should get with the times : ) and It is becoming common to see people with PDA handheld devices these days instead of a big diary however the diary is not diminished for ever. Now my diary you can see from this picture was a standard professional diary and every year I would buy refills :) my writing at times does become quiet horrible especially whilst travelling on the train.

So after seeing people around me using handheld's I was intrigued to find out more. The first PDA device that I was introduced to was the O2 XDA and when I saw this marvellous little machine I found it very cute and stylish because of its tiny form factor so I thought to myself I'm going to get one now : ) I am bit of a splurge spender I love spending on new clothes, perfumes and jewellery :D so I thought I will check out a few of the tech departments of the big name stores however typical me I was a bit side tracked and got sucked in by sales :D anyway I finally got to my main destination the people at the store where helpful enough that I was able to try a demo model of the o2xda. The demo model was the same as a new model anyway my sim was not compatible with the o2xda, and when making calls on a normal sim it would take forever for a ring tone. Unfortunately we could not cancel the call the smart phone device froze as we talked about the features of the o2xda we heard someone talking :D Oh my God! Who knows how long they where there. So basically I wasn't quiet impressed by this and decided no I will not waist my money on a device that can end up wasting more money in the future with its funny quirks!

So how did I come to my Palm Tungsten T5, a colleague at work asked me how has your handheld search been going, I was like I'm not sure I don't know much I only have seen the o2xda and some pocket pc devices in store which I did not like because of the looks of the pocket pc devices they where to silver they can shine your eyes out : ) and that was not something I wanted, I wanted something sophisticated, fancy, simple and not SHOCKING. That's what I told them with a laughter they then told me about a Palm and had whipped out this very sleek looking handheld it was an M515 which looked very nice I loved it and then the light bulb in my head went yippee : ) maybe this is what I need.
I was told about the company website I browsed around and looked at several handheld's the one which I liked was the Palm Tungsten T5 I swiftly read about its features me not being to technically detailed I thought to myself it seems to be popular, looks nice, has got heaps of memory and can serve me as my dairy replacement and yes it did not look shocking either.

I cant believe I was actually getting excited over this who would have thought Lady Palm would have been excited about the mere purchase of an electronic diary replacement. But yes I was quiet indeed keen to purchase this device ASAP. So me being someone who likes to get things over and done with as soon as possible, I then decided to call Harris technology and had placed an order so I can pick it up later at lunch. And being someone who should be good with money : ) I thought I would negotiate the price down... I'd have to say I received a fair price with some accessories that I thought would be essential (this comes from the office Goss.) So through out that morning I was busy with emails, and rearranging appointments and I was secretly waiting for lunch not to eat though but to see what all the hype is going to be about.

It was that time I told everyone I'm off and will be back in an hours time & so I went in to the store, recieved my handheld in 10 minutes surprisingly it was all packed up for me. I actually felt the same excitement that I normally feel when I end up finding that perfect pair of stilettos (shoes.) I went back to the office obviously every one asked me so what handheld did you get? ...so we played pass the parcel just looking at the box outside it wasn't opened until I went home, I know that's hard! Not opening something you have waited for so long.

First of all I'm residing in Sydney, Australia one of best places to live in the world!
